Bing Webmaster Tools
The single most overlooked free tool in AI visibility, because Copilot answers are built from Bing's index and almost nobody checks what Bing sees.
Last reviewed 09 August 2026. This subject moves monthly — products ship, crawlers change and documentation is rewritten without announcement. For anything newer than this page, Microsoft’s own site is the source of truth.

Why it matters more than its reputation suggests
There is no Copilot crawler. Copilot answers are assembled from Bing's index, gathered by Bingbot. So the question “how do I get into Copilot?” is really “how do I get into Bing?”, and this is the only place you can see the answer.
That matters because Copilot sits inside every Microsoft 365 subscription, in Windows, and in Edge. For a business selling to other businesses, it is often the assistant their customers already have open.
What to actually do
- Sign up and verify. If you already have Google Search Console, use the import option — verification and sitemaps carry across in a couple of clicks rather than starting again.
- Submit your sitemap. Bing does not discover pages as aggressively as Google, so this matters more here than it does there.
- Turn on IndexNow. It pings Bing the moment a page changes instead of waiting for a crawl. Most CMSs have a plugin and Cloudflare can enable it for you.
- Read the crawl and index reports. A page Bing has not indexed is a page Copilot cannot cite.
How it relates to what we do
Directly complementary, and worth being clear about. Brand Radar answers am I being mentioned — a measurement question that needs a very large prompt database. Our check answers can I be mentioned — a readiness question that needs your HTML.
If Brand Radar shows you at zero mentions, it has told you something true and given you nothing to act on. The reason is almost always in your markup. Fix that first, then use a tracker to watch whether it moved.
If you are already well mentioned and want to understand competitive share of voice, this is a better purchase than anything we sell.
Where it falls short
The interface is dated and some reports are slower to update than the Google equivalent. The keyword data is thinner. None of that matters much, because you are not here for the analytics — you are here because it is the control panel for one of the four major assistants.
Verdict
Free, first-party, and the only lever you have on Copilot. If you do one thing after running our free checker, make it this.
Commercial disclosure. No link in this directory earns us a commission. If that ever changes, the link will be marked (commercial link), carry rel="sponsored", and this note will say so. What we write does not depend on it: nothing here is a paid placement, the order is not for sale, we review tools that pay us nothing, and we say plainly when a tool is better than ours or when you should spend nothing at all. If that ever stops being true, this directory is worthless and so is the rest of the site.
On pricing. We describe what a tool is for, not what it charges. Prices move, free tiers get withdrawn or introduced, plans get renamed, and what you pay differs by region and currency. Anything we wrote about cost could be wrong by the time you read it, so treat it as a rough shape and check the vendor's own pricing page before you buy. Spotted something out of date? Tell us and we will fix it.
