GoHighLevel

Server-rendered, with robots.txt and llms.txt built in. The gaps are structured data, which you write by hand, and pages that carry their message in images.

Updated 5 min read

GoHighLevel (HighLevel) is often white-labelled, so the business owner may not know they are on it. Look in the page source for images.leadconnectorhq.com or msgsndr. Pages render server-side, so the text is there without JavaScript and retrieval is rarely the problem. What you are missing is structured data and real text.

Add custom JSON-LD

GoHighLevel has no schema builder. You write the JSON-LD yourself.

Open the page in the builder: Settings → Tracking Code → Header Tracking Code. Paste the block there. Every page has its own box, so put Organization or LocalBusiness on the homepage, Service on each service page and FAQPage on your FAQ page. For a block that belongs on every page, use the website-level head tracking code in the website's settings.

Do not paste JSON-LD into a Custom Code element in the page body; it is unreliable. Blog posts are the awkward case, because the tracking code cannot target one post. Use Google Tag Manager and fire a Custom HTML tag on that post's URL.

GoHighLevel can serve a cached copy after you publish. Test the live URL, not just the code. Templates are in JSON-LD templates.

Titles and descriptions

Page settings → SEO Meta Data. Titles come from page names, and cloned pages keep their working titles. Check the slug and title of whatever is set as your homepage; home-copy and home-wip turn up more often than you would think. Rewrite using the patterns in titles that get cited.

Alt text

Click the image → element settings → Alt text. If it is blank or says "Image", the assistant has nothing to work with.

robots.txt

Set at the domain level: Settings → Domains → your domain → ⋮ → Edit. Add explicit allows for the AI crawlers; the AI robots.txt builder writes the rules for you. One rule covers the whole domain, so a mistake here hides the entire site. Funnel thank-you and confirmation pages are worth blocking.

llms.txt

Native. Funnels & Websites → Settings → Domains → Edit domain → llms.txt. Write it in Markdown and save; it publishes instantly at /llms.txt. Each domain and subdomain needs its own. The llms.txt generator gives you a starting file.

Older guides tell you to host the file elsewhere and 301-redirect to it. You no longer need to. As everywhere, do not spend long here — structured data and page content matter far more.

Bookings and the calendar widget

GoHighLevel calendars are embedded widgets drawn by script. A person can book; an assistant reading the page sees almost nothing. Put the booking facts in plain text beside the widget: what the appointment is, how long it takes, what it costs, who it suits, and how to book by phone or email instead. This is most of the Use you pillar on GoHighLevel.

The real GHL gap

GoHighLevel sites are usually built from funnel templates: one long page, anchor-link navigation, and headings and icons exported from a design tool as images. It looks finished. The HTML says very little. Turn image text back into real text, split the long page into one page per service, and give your FAQs their own page with FAQPage schema. It is unglamorous and it is what moves the score.

Take this to your assistant

Paste it into ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude or Gemini and apply it to your own website.
